Dementia Citizens – Privacy Policy

About this Policy

This policy sets out how we may collect data from you and how any data that you provide to us will be used and processed.

For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act), the data controller is Nesta although we will not collect any personal data via the app for the purposes of the Act. Nesta (“We”) take your right to privacy very seriously and are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.

Consent

By using the app you consent to the terms set out in this privacy policy. Please read it carefully. If you do not completely understand anything in this policy you should not continue with use of the app until you are comfortable.

The information we collect

We will not collect your name, email address, telephone number or access the photographs that you use in the app – this information will remain on your mobile device.

We will collect your anonymised responses to the dementia questionnaires, including anonymised details about your health, quality of life, mood, and quality of relationships. We will also collect anonymised data about your usage of the app such as the time and frequency that you use the app, session length, device type and the music being listened to via the app.

Whilst we take steps to anonymise the data we collect to the best of our ability, we cannot guarantee to eliminate all risk of identification from the information we collect.

How we will use your information

We will use the information that we hold about you in the following way:

Disclosure of your information

We may share your information with other Nesta organisations and selected third parties including our research partners, suppliers and sub-contractors; for example to facilitate the research programme and technical development of the mobile apps (including related research). We may also make anonymised data we collect available to other researchers and third parties aligned with our goals.

Access to information

All of the information we collect via the app will be anonymised. We therefore will not be able to identify the information you have provided to us via the app in order to provide a copy of it to you.

Data retention

You can stop using the app at any time. Due to the anonymised nature of the data collected via the app we cannot delete any information previously collected.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy on the Dementia Citizens website.

Security

We take steps to protect the information we collect and follow procedures designed to minimise unauthorised access or disclosure of your information. However, we can’t guarantee to eliminate all risk of misuse. Please keep the device(s) with this app installed safe and don’t share these with anyone else. You are responsible for all activity on your device(s).

Cookies

Our mobile apps use cookies to distinguish you from other users of the mobile apps. This helps us to provide you with a good experience when you use the mobile apps and also allows us to improve the mobile apps.
